As political tensions begin to rise ahead of Uganda’s 2026 general elections, Rtd. Maj. John Katusabe Sibendire, an independent candidate for Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament seat has called on politicians and civic leaders to prioritise peace and national unity over incitement and division.
Addressing the Press today at Verina Gardens in Kasese town, Maj. Katusabe condemned early signs of political agitation, including the recent land wrangles in Kasese district that needs a lasting solution by government.
He urged leaders to embrace a civic-minded approach to leadership, one that promotes understanding of government programs and avoids the manipulation of public opinions. Maj Katusabe one speaking…
According to Maj. Katusabe leaders must step up and ensure that citizens receive accurate information about how government works, challenging the incumbent Members of Parliament across the district to foster civic education and transparency. He advised the youth to stand firm in their faith, warning them against distractions and negative influences prevalent in today’s society. End
