Bulembia Division leaders in Kasese Municipality are calling for more action to contain the growing spate of teenage pregnancies in the area.
Reports indicate that Kasese district is leading in the country with over 7,000 teenage pregnancy cases recorded in 2023.
Over 600 cases of teenage pregnancies have been recorded in Kasese Municipality this year alone according to available statistics from health facilities in the area.
Abdul Magezi, the Bulembia Division Community Development Officer- says many young girls below the age of 18 years engage in sex due to poverty, domestic violence, bad peer pressure and cults which led to pregnancies.
