Residents of Bunyamukongo, Nyamba B and Kasogi villages in Kabonero Sub County, Bunyangabu district, have fled their homes for fear of being attacked by unknown people.

This follows an anonymous letter that was dropped in Rwano Catholic Church playground in Bunyamukongo village early this week.

In their letter, the authors threaten to kill several people who include Robert Tugume, the LC I chairperson of Nyamba B village; Sunday Robert; John Magezi and a Uganda People’s Defense Forces – UPDF officer whose name was not indicated.

The anonymous authors also indicate that they would destroy the properties of their targets.

Tugume says that people who were engaged in clashes in the same area about two weeks ago could have authored the letter.

Evanisi Kanweri, also a resident of Kabonero, says they are living in much fear and do not sleep in their homes because they suspect that the attackers will strike at any time.

On Wednesday, the Kabonero LC III chairperson, John Kyaligonza, who also heads the security committee of the area, told the residents that police and the army are hunting for the people who dropped the letter.   Mr. John on letter Speaking;…..

Jane Muhindo Asiimwe, the Bunyangabu Resident District Commissioner, says that security personnel are alert to avert any crime.

    Ms. Asiimwe Speaking;….

However, she also suspects that criminals could be crossing from Kasese to Kabonero since the two share a border. Ends .
