The Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court ordered the remand of a 27-year-old businessman to Luzira prison for forging a letter purportedly written and signed by President Yoweri Museveni.
Mr. Nicholas Male, a resident of Nazibwa Zone in Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District, last evening appeared before Chief Magistrate, His Worship Ronald Kayizzi, where he denied four charges of forgery and uttering false documents.
Prosecution told the court that on August 15, 2025, while in Kampala City, Male allegedly forged a letter addressed to the Minister of Works and Transport and falsely claimed it had been authored by the President of Uganda. According to the charge sheet, the document in question claimed that President Museveni had directed the Minister of Works and Transport to renew Nation Oil Distributors Limited’s contract to manage the MV Kalangala ferry for another 15 years, a statement the prosecution says was entirely fabricated.
