Religious leaders in the Teso sub-region have asked the Police to desist from bias and brutality if they are to improve the image of the force.
The Police top leadership is currently seeking views from stakeholders across the country on how to improve operations, welfare, training, and recruitment among others to develop the Uganda Police Force- Doctrine, a working document that will be used by the police in the execution of its duties.
Speaking at a meeting with the Police top leadership at the East Kyoga Regional Police headquarters in Soroti City yesterday, Rev. Fr. Gonzaga Waziwazi Ongereny, the Soroti Catholic Diocesan Chancellor told the Police that acts of brutality and political bias have put the police on the spot for failing to deliver effective service to the community.
Fr. Gonzaga said that there is a need for strategic policing to change the mindset of the community about the police as an institution charged with the responsibility of keeping law and order. Fr. Gonzanga speaking…
