Religious leaders in Luwero District have asked the government to allow them increase the number congregants.

Last week President Museveni allowed worship places to reopen on condition that only 70 congregants attend the service.

As the Churches reopened on Sunday, the leaders said that 70 congregants is inadequate.

Delivering his Sermon at Kasana Cathedral, the Parish Priest, who also doubles as the Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Denis Ssebuggwaawo noted that 70 people are few since Christians are eager to return to Churches after six months.

The Assistant Vicar of the Luwero Anglican Diocese, Rev. Can. James Mukiibi questioned President Museveni’s limit of 70 congregants.

He argued that it’s small and needs to be revisited because their Churches can accommodate hundreds and can practice social distancing.

Many Churches on Sunday observed the Standard Operating Procedures, despite a few that turned up without masks. ENDS
