Lt. Joe Walunsimbi, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner has described as mere political comedy by the opposition members in the district to blame him for poor performance in public primary schools he deters from demanding school fees from parents.
Lt. Walunsimbi has been at the fore front of criticism over arresting head teachers of public schools who solicit school fees from parents and guardians.
Addressing the media on Saturday last week, Mr. Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, the Kasese District Forum for Democratic Change party chairperson alleged that many head teachers in public schools were working under fear, leading to poor performance compared to their counterparts in private primary schools. According to our records in 2023, the Kasese RDC reportedly ordered for the arrest of Kirembe primary school head teacher, Ms Razia Pokopoko, Mr. Seleveno Kiribyunza, the head teacher for Railway primary school, Mr. Erisa Muhindo Muthungwanda for Basecamp primary school and Remegio Thembo Ikwera, the head teacher at Kasese Primary school among others over similar accusations.
