The Kasese District Council has passed a resolution urging the Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Paul Walhakira, the District Security Committee, and the District Executive to remind the President’s office to expedite the process of resolving land disputes.

This resolution follows the encampment of over 1,000 people at the office of the Kasese Resident District Commissioner (RDC), expressing frustration over the government’s delay in addressing ongoing land conflicts.
During a council session held today at Kasese Multipurpose Hall in Kasese Town, Hon. Ham Natuhwera and Hon. Gad Mugisa the district councilors representing Nyakatonzi and Kitswamba sub-counties emphasized the urgent need for government intervention in persistent land disputes between cultivators and pastoralists.

Delivering his state of affairs, the Kasese District Local Council V Chairperson, Mr. Erifaz Muhindi, expressed concern over the deteriorating health conditions of the people currently staying at the RDC’s office. He warned of a looming public health risk due to poor hygiene at the site.
