Kasese Resident District Commissioner Lt. Joe Walunsimbi has launched a Micro Project under Luwero –Rwenzori worth 192 million shillings to assist the war affected people engage in economic activities.
The program will be community- led and based on the ability of each beneficiary group to perform.
He said the overall goal is to redress the advance effects of 1981-86 liberation war and the ADF insurgency of 1996/2003, with the aim of improving the social economic well-being of the population in the area.
Officiating at the launch held at Kasese district council hall this morning, Lt.Walunsimbi said this program will focus on commercial Agriculture and Sacco’s.
The sixteen beneficiary groups are, Rwenzori X combatant’s united farmers, Thuwathikanaye Catchiest Association, Imam Union for Peace and Muhumura family group among others, with each expected to receive over Ten million shillings. Lt. Walunsimbi speaking…
Lt.Walunsimbi said in 2006 Government had donated about Five hundred million shillings in the same project.
