The Kasese Municipality Central Division chairperson, Mr. Martin Safari has asked all residents in risky and prominent disaster areas to remain on alert as the rainy season begins.
Last year, there was shock and fear as patients at the Kilembe Mines Hospital and other residents in other parts of Kasese District ran for their lives after rivers Nyamwamba, Nyamugasani, Lhubiriha and Mubuku burst their banks in early May which affected many of them.
A group of more than 380 families in Kanyangeya, the mostly affected area in the last May floods are still displaced and camping at Muhokya town council headquarters.
Speaking to our reporter in an interview last evening in his office, Mr. Safari asked his electorates in risky areas to start preparing for this season which is normally characterized by floods and other related disasters, calling on people in such areas to look for quick and possible solution.
