Bwera United women with Disabilities association, BUDWA, has joined the rest of the country in the sixteen days of activism against Gender Based Violence among the young girls and women living with disabilities.
Shortly after their training today, some participants including; Ms Sylvia Kasusura Muliro and Ms Joy Masika, both local residents of Muhokya town council, attributed the increasing cases of early marriages, rights and drug abuses by the youth and PWDs, to parenting gaps, discrimination, poverty partly as a result of lack of adequate skills, information and income generating projects among the young people.

Speaking to our reporter shortly after presiding over a Community dialogue at Muhokya town council headquarters this afternoon, the association’s Executive Director, Ms Juliet Mbambu called for collaborated efforts in reporting and neutralizing GBV and PWDs rights abuses she said were frustrating development and putting the lives of the victims as risk. The Youth Chairperson for Muhokya town council in Kasese district, Mr. Godfrey Dembe Alitwaha and Mr. Robert Turyamunsi said Domestic Violence had fuelled violation of human rights especially among women and people living with disabilities thus welcoming the interventions by government and her development partners.
