Karambi Group of People with Disabilities has embarked on a massive tree planting campaign in Ihandiro Sub-County, Kasese District to conserve the environment.
Mr. Elias Byamungu, the Chief Administrative Officer Kasese district, officiated at the inception meeting of planting sixty thousand assorted tree species held yesterday afternoon at Movic Motel in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council.
The drive is part of efforts to fights against the rampant environmental degradation and climate change in Ihandiro Sub-County.

Mr.Godfrey Bwambale, the Programs Officer Karambi Group of People with Disabilities, said the exercise is aimed at keeping the environment green and free from degradation adding that it’s equally the role of Non-Governmental Organizations to protect the environment.
He said the three year project funded by International tree foundation target five hundred households in Ihandiro sub-county with seventy Eight associated to Persons Living with disabilities. Mr.Godfrey speaking….
Ms.Anet Babirye, an official from Malteser International called for Gender inclusion and mainstreaming in tree planting.
She asked local leaders to look for sign language interpreters to help the dumb and those with visual impairment than living them behind in tree planting project. Ms. Babirye speaking….
