President Museveni has pledged 200 million shillings for the construction of the Lwengo Muslim District Headquarters and Health Centre.
The ceremony, held at Mbiriizi Muslim Seed Secondary School in Mbiriizi Town Council, was attended by prominent figures from the government and the Muslim community.
Representing the Muslim community, His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, led esteemed leaders such as Prof Dr. Muhammadi Lubega Kisambira, the UMSC National Chairperson, and Haj Abdu Kiyimba, former executive committee member. Christian religious leaders, headed by Bishop Serversus Jjumba, the Catholic Bishop of Masaka Diocese, were also in attendance.
President Museveni, accompanied by Mufti Mubaje, laid the foundation stone for the proposed headquarters and health centre, estimated to cost 1.6 billion shillings.
During his address, President Museveni expressed gratitude to the Muslim leadership for initiating the project and personally donated 200 million shillings before approving the request for the Uganda People’s Defence Forces Construction Unit to carry out the construction and assured further support as the project progressed.
