President Yoweri Museveni has pledged age reduction for the beneficiaries of the Social Assistance Grant for Empowerment funds among the elderly persons in Uganda.

The National female Member of Parliament for the elderly, Hon. Joy Page Wako was quoted as saying that whereas they were also pressing to increase their monthly figure from 25000 shillings, President Museveni has pledged reduction of the age from 80 years.

The legislator who was addressing the media at Virina gardens yesterday(01st.December.2021) said the move to reduce the age limit was basically to increase the number of beneficiaries in the country. Hon. Wako speaking1..…..

She also said that Parliament has resolved that the monthly amount to the elderly beneficiaries will always be reviewed every after two years, a thing she said they were pushing to materialize.

The Chairperson for the elderly persons in Kisoro district, Mzee Theophilus Ntamukiza said the twenty five thousand shillings monthly pay to the elderly was to little compared to the ever pressing needs of the beneficiaries. Mzee Theophilus speaking……

Mr. Simon Bwire, a Ministry for Public service representative, Mr. Simon Bwire used part of his speech time to ask civil servants to timely prepare for their retirement period than should among others include verification of their personal data to minimize future inconveniences.
