Pope Francis encouraged the community to take loving and honoring the Elderly as must.
During the first Wednesday General Audience today in St. Peter’s Square in over two years, Pope Francis highlights the importance of honoring the elderly, and calls for young people to be educated about life and its stages.
To not honor the elderly as God commands, and to treat them as something to discard, “is a grave sin,” Pope Francis said.
Pope Francis said the commandment to honor the elderly gives us a blessing.
The pope’s lesson focused on seven verses from the book of Sirach, including, Sirach chapter 3:12-13: “My son, be steadfast in honoring your father; do not grieve him as long as he lives. Even if his mind fails, be considerate of him; do not insult him because you are in your prime. END.
