Meanwhile, in a bid to prevent the 2019 scenario where over 110 children disappeared from their parents during martyrs’ day celebrations, police have tightened security for all children mostly those below 10 years.
Through the Child and Family Protection Unit headed by Senior Superintendent of Police Maureen Atuhaire, a team of over 30 police officers has been set up to ensure all children entering the Catholic and Anglican shrines are registered.
At the entrance of Catholic shrines, a tent has been provided to register the children and also receive cases of missing youngsters.
The Namugongo team is being headed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Carol Kushemererwa who is also the Kampala metropolitan area commander.

Out of the 110 children who were recorded missing in 2019, 80 were reunited with their parents by close of business on martyrs’ day.
Osbert Sserugo, manager of Red Cross Kampala station said they had already registered two cases of children missing from their parents but they were using microphones to reunite them. End.
