The Uganda Police Force has cautioned presidential campaign teams against attempting to board security escort vehicles assigned to guard candidates during the campaign period.
Campaigns for the eight presidential candidates officially kicked off yesterday, with events spread across the country.
President Yoweri Museveni launched his manifesto in Munyonyo–Entebbe, while his main rival, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, alias Bobi Wine, headed to Jinja District. Other candidates traversed districts including Buikwe, Mityana, and Kawempe.
Over 100 districts are expected to host campaign rallies between September 29 and January 12, with each candidate assigned specific venues to minimize clashes.
Speaking to journalists in Kampala, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kituuma Rusoke warned all eight candidates’ camps to strictly observe existing laws, including traffic and road safety regulations and the Public Order Management Act.
Meanwhile, Mubarak Munyagwa, the presidential flag bearer of the newly formed Common Man’s Party, has officially launched his campaign manifesto, marking the start of his nationwide presidential bid.
Munyagwa began his day with prayers at Bwaise Mosque before taking a symbolic lunch at Bwaise Market. He then proceeded to Katanga Playground for the manifesto unveiling, which kicked off at 5 p.m.
