Police in Rukungiri district is investigating two members of the district Taskforce for allegedly selling food meant to be distributed to the vulnerable residents affected by the COVID-19 lockdown.
The suspects arrested include; Robert Tukamuhebwa, and Isaac Kaharuza, the political assistant to the former member of parliament for Rujumbura county Maj. Gen. Jim Katugu Muhwezi.
Mr. Elias Byamungu, the district chief administrative officer and the member of the taskforce confirmed to the that the duo have been dealing with Richard Kaburuha and one identified as Kwirino in looking for market for the stolen food items adding that they also had a tendency of submitting ghost lists of people demanding for relief food to the district taskforce. The CAO further said that after donating relief foods to the needy, the duo would go out at night and collect some of the food items from homes. END
