Masindi police have recovered a gun that is believed to have been used to terrorize residents in the area for a long period.
The SMG riffle was recovered from Kayom village in Miirya sub-county last night.
It is reported that three suspected robbers invaded the village at around 11:30 pm on Tuesday to rob residents.
Residents became suspicious upon seeing the three strange people and sounded an alarm prompting the thugs to flee.
Residents pursued the thugs prompting one of them to drop the gun they had in their possession.
The residents immediately alerted Masindi police who swiftly rushed to the area and picked the gun.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, says that the hunt for the suspects is ongoing.
He applauded the residents for the high level of vigilance exhibited, adding that members of the public should always be security conscious to detect any wrong elements in their areas. END.
