Police will continue with investigations related to death of Late Julius Nyerere who was reportedly killed by an angry mob over witchcraft allegations, ASP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson has said.

ASP Tumushime said that whereas investigations had commenced about the incident, the Late Nyerere was confirmed to have been beaten to death on allegations of witchcraft related to the death of the Late Amos Masereka Sharp Mapera 32 and late Arnold Bwambale 21, a student at Rwenzori Christian Vocational secondary school who were reportedly swept and killed by River Kyangumirya in Mbunga sub county in Kasese district.

ASP Tumushime who condemned mob justice as means of presenting concerns, said the angry mob is believed to have pounced on the deceased after he altered what the suspects perceived to be suspicious statements related to the death of the river flood victims. ASP Tumushime speaking1………

He said there`s no law to prove and criminalize witchcraft, a situation that makes it hard for police to investigate similar allegations. END.
