Police reportedly fired live bullets this morning to disperse angry market vendors in the Kasese Municipal’s popular Mawa Market who attempted to lynch a 29-year-old woman suspected of stealing money.
According to a section of charged market vendors, Ms Anet Sekanabo, the suspect and other four women, pretend to be reliable customers and make their victim busy in the busier market as their well-trained children ranging between seven and 10 years, use razorblades to cut into to steal money. Ms Jane Rugarama whose two hundred eighty thousand shillings was stolen this morning, like other victims insisted Ms Sekanabo was the leader of an organized gang of women targeting hard earned money from market goers. Ms Rugarama and others speaking…….
Speaking to our reporter shortly after a successful rescue mission by police, the Kasese police Division community liaison’s officer, Maj. Ramathan Kitalemire said police would investigate reports that the suspect is a habitual thieve commanding a gang and had trained children into acts of lawlessness. Maj. Kitalemire speaking……..
He called for calm among market vendors he asked to come out with evidence to support their claims. END
