Five people are in police custody in Fort portal city for alleged illegal gun possession.

ASP Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson, says that the suspects were picked up over the weekend during an intelligence-led operation carried out by officers from different security agencies in Kisenyi and Rwengoma villages.

According to ASP Twesige, officers at Fort Portal Police, received information indicating that some civilians within the area had an illegal firearm. According to police, the teams also searched the premises of the suspects but nothing was recovered through some witnesses insisted to the officers that they had seen one of the suspects with a pistol.
