The Bushenyi District Police Commander John Bosco Serunjogi has cautioned Bushenyi Health Center IV workers against rejecting victims delivered at the government health facility.
Speaking during a stakeholders meeting yesterday at the Bushenyi District Headquarters hall, Serunjogi said it has turned into a habit for health workers at the health centre to reject and abandon victims from accidents who need first Aid, or victims of mob justice.
He says they have always referred them to Kitagata and KIU hospitals which are distant making it expensive for police and the request for the ambulance has always fallen on deaf ears.
He says they are forced to use their Police Patrol vehicle to transport the victims which is not acceptable.
Dr. Aaron Kasule the Bushenyi Municipal Principal Medical Officer when tasked to explain said that health workers like nurses not trained to a level of a doctor normally develop ‘cold shivers’ or phobia to handle victims especially when there is no doctor around. ENDS
