A heated debate unfolded in Parliament yesterday, as Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja openly criticized the Leader of the Opposition, Joel Ssenyonyi.
The tension began when Ssenyonyi notified Parliament about the release of seven National Unity Platform (NUP) leaders who had been abducted by security forces.
Ssenyonyi expressed concerns about the raid on the NUP headquarters, where security forces allegedly broke into offices and confiscated cameras without a search warrant.
He blamed the government for the operation, referring to the security forces as “goons.”
Prime Minister Nabbanja took offense to Ssenyonyi’s remarks, accusing him of disparaging the government’s image whenever he speaks in Parliament. End.
