At least ten children are reported to have escaped from Muhokya Internally Displaced People’s Camp in Muhokya town council in Kasese District, on allegations of poor living conditions.
In an interview with Ms.Njerimina Mbwinenyenga 70, who shifted from Karusandara sub-county to Muhokya IDP in 2020 during the devastated floods, said two out of her three granddaughters below Eighteen years have disappeared from the camp.
Ms.Njerimina, whose temporarily house was among those destroyed last evening by heavy rain and winds said she is now staying in agony and not certain about her next destination. Ms. Njerimina speaking….
Ms. Oryema Rehema, the Coordinator for Muhokya IDP, said there was a likelihood of Cholera outbreak following the destruction of about five pit-latrines, should Government intervention take long.

Kasese District Senior Planner, Mr. Joseph Isingoma revealed that central Government has already purchased land for the affected people, adding that there are a few challenges Government is harmonizing before officially handing land to beneficiaries.

A team from Caritas Kasese, led by Mr.Didas Kule visited Muhokya IDP camp and sensitized people about Kitchen gardening and Domestic Violence among others.
Mr. Asanairi Mugusu, the local council three chairperson for Muhokya Sub-County, asked Government and civil society organizations to provide relief to over ten families whose houses were blown off.
