Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa, the Member of Parliament for Busongora County North in Kasese district has described as a blacklisted future for children whose parents and guardians are ‘pushed’ on matters of education.
The legislator who sees no other inheritance by the young ones than education, expects complaints by parents and guardians whose children have not been allowed in school as academic terms open for classes over failure to have school fees and not forcing them to have their children report for studies.
Speaking to Kasese guide radio in Kasese town last evening, Hon. Sowedi was concerned about the general low turn up he places at below fifteen percent, including, Muramba primary school in Bogoye subcounty where only thirty of more than 500 learners reported at the opening of third term on Monday this week. Hon. Sowedi who called for joint and communal upbringing of children, said it was not enough to be a member of a school’s PTA committees but rather partly a responsibility of members to engage and mobilize their electorates to have their children in school in time to ease the teaching process. The legislator also blames early pregnancies and marriages to parents who keep their children idle at home before warning some of his electorates against being alcoholic, a trend he said was breaking the parental care cycle and marriages. END
