    Over four hundred farmers in Nyakatonzi are in losses after their crops were allegedly destroyed by elephants.

    Over four hundred farmers in Nyakatonzi Sub County in Kasese district are reportedly in losses after their crops were allegedly destroyed last night by suspected elephants.

    The Kasese district councilor Representing Nyakatonzi sub county, Hon. Hamu Natuhwera said that most farmers have lost hopes of any harvest after suspected herds of elephants destroyed crops thrice this week, in the areas of Kagongo, Rwemburara, Bwanika and Rwentuha among others, and the worst being last night.     The Chief Warden-Conservation area for Queen Elizabeth National park Mr. Pontius Ezuma asked the community to alert them by mobile telephones for action before revealing that UWA law is not yet operationalized over absence of Regulations by the line Ministry.

    Earlier, Hon. Hamu who asked for the intervention of the RDC for relief food and back personnel against the roaming wildlife said that the subcounty was looking at how they could intervene than to let the wild beasts destroy crops at the loss of the community. END
