More than 800 pilgrims have set off from Kyenjojo District, starting the second leg of the 300-kilometer walk to the Uganda Martyr’s Shrine in Namugongo.
The pilgrims were flagged off yestedauy by the Bishop of Fort Portal Diocese, Rt. Rev. Robert Muhirwa at Virika Cathedral in Fort Portal before arriving at Kaihura Villa Maria this morning.
At 4 pm, the pilgrims set off for the second and will rest at Rwibale Catholic Church in Kyenjojo District.
Adolf Kamara the Chairperson and lead coordinator of the pilgrims say they reached safely at Villa Maria Catholic Church where they took a rest.

Annually faithful from across the world gather at Namugongo Martyrs Shrine on June 6th to commemorate the 45 Catholic and Anglican martyrs, who were killed on the orders of Kabaka Mwanga II, the then King of Buganda. END
