More than 6000 Runners have today taken part in the 4th edition of the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon held in Kasese district with a call to all the people to embrace running for health and wealth.
Mr. Benard Cheptoch from Bukwo district and Rechael Zena Chebet emerged 42km elite marathon winners and each pocketing shillings 10 million.

Despite the early morning coldness in Kasese, thousands of local and foreign runners thronged Stanley Street in Kasese town to take part in this year’s Mountain Rwenzori marathon.
Mr. Benard Cheptoch from Bukwo district came first in the 42 km race on his 2nd attempt, having finished third in 2023 and immediately hailed the organizers for coming up to uplift the talents of not only Ugandans but also individuals from other East African countries. Mr. Amos Wekesa, the chief organizer of the Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon told the revelers both local and international that the number of runners has steadily increased and is very optimistic that the marathon is now global.

Kenya deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei believes that Kenya nationals tested themselves well ahead of the coming International Marathons.

Andrew Kilonzo, the Uganda Breweries managing director and Denise Nazzinda, the Tusker Lite Brand manager and Minister of State for National Guidance, Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga all emphasized the importance of this marathon.

Away from being competitive, the Rwenzori Marathon is an annual much anticipated adventure that showcases the beauty of Mt. Rwenzori and other tourism features of Kasese district in Ugnda. A total of 22 winners from each category received money courtesy of several sponsors led by Tusker Lite. END
