More than 3,000 vulnerable people living within Lira City has missed the COVID-19 relief funds.

Last week, the government started the distribution of 100,000 shillings to vulnerable persons who were affected by the covid-19 lockdown.

Tom Richard Okello, the Lira City Community Development Officer says that the 3,000 people could not be registered because their names were entered into the system after it had reached its maximum allocated number.

According to Okello, Lira City was given a target of only 9,565 beneficiaries.

Gloria Akello and her friend Rebecca Apio are bar attendants who are among the residents who missed registration.

Moses Junior Ongwen, an event promoter in Lira City says he registered for the funds, but he is worried that he has not received the funds.
