    Over 20 million trees targeted for planting across the Rwenzoris

    About twenty million trees is targeted for planting across the Rwenzoris and her slopes in five years, Kasese Guide Radio has learnt.

    During a consultative meeting with the media at Shilo hotel in Kasese Municipality, Mr. John Henry Baguma, a Kasese District Tourism Board advisor, said the Thelujji festival project is mainly to check global warming and disasters.

    He called on the local community members to join the efforts aimed at meeting the target of planting the twenty million trees across the historical Rwenzori Mountain by individually and communally greening their environment. Mr. Baguma speaking1…..

    Mr. Baguma who asked the intending festival participants to buy the run jerseys, said different activities had been planned, including, the 21 kilometer run from Kasese to Nyakalingijyo, Kasese to Kikorongo and the Fataki walk from Kasese to Chapa, and a ride competition of People with Disabilities among others.     Mr. Baguma, a dream bearer of the Thelujji festivals in Kasese district also asked the elderly and PWDs to join the Marathon scheduled between August 15 and August 31st for purposes of conserving nature. END
