Members of the opposition are in attendance of today’s plenary sitting of Parliament after about a month since they took the decision to boycott the sittings.
The opposition wing lost the vote moved by the Kira Municipality MP, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda to have the sitting suspended for 15 minutes to allow the State Minister for Internal Affairs Gen. David Muhoozi to make his way to the chambers.
He had initially also asked the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among to amend the order paper to prioritize the statement which was number six on the list, which the Speaker heeded to but then Muhoozi was not yet in the house then, prompting a continuation with other lined-up business.
The expectation of the opposition MPs was that the statement will address the sequence of concerns on human rights, top on the list the disappearance of 18 opposition supporters. END
