Opposition political parties and camps taking part in the presidential race have resolved to set up a joint oversight platform, technology and resources to ensure that their vote is protected across the country come January 14th.
Under their Unity in Diversity (UID) Forum convened by former presidential candidate Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere, the political parties and presidential candidates today issued a statement on joint action during and after the upcoming general election.
The political formations in the coalition are Democratic Party-DP, National Unity Platform-NUP, Forum for Democratic Change-FDC, Alliance for National Transformation-ANT and Justice Forum-JEEMA.
Others are; independent presidential candidate Henry Tumukunde’s Renewed Uganda, Kiiza Besigye’s People’s Government pressure group and opposition minded Uganda People’s Congress-UPC faction led by city lawyer Peter Walubiri.
These have also agreed to jointly document various acts of human rights violations that they say continue being committed against Ugandans by the State.
yesterday’s joint action statement follows the 16th October Declaration of Principles signed by the opposition political parties in which they committed to provide a new political order and a government based on constitutionalism with a functioning multiparty system. ENDS
