Gulu City Woman MP aspirant, Ms Vento Auma Ogora is protesting the manner in which Forum for Democratic Change handpicked Ms Betty Aol Ocan as the party flag bearer without going through the FDC party primaries as is required in the party constitution.
The FDC constitution stipulates the procedure to be followed to determine a flag bearer in a position where two or more candidates have expressed interest.
Ms Ogora had expressed interest to contest for the same position, but was told the party flag had been handed to Ms Aol.
Ms Aol is the current Gulu District Woman MP and also leader of Opposition in the 10th Parliament and has served as Gulu District Woman MP for three terms.
On September 16, the national office instructed the party leadership in Gulu District that Ms Aol should be declared the official FDC candidate to contest for the Woman MP seat for the newly created Gulu City.
Since Ms Ogora was not convinced with the manner in which the process was conducted, she decided to seek redress from the national FDC party officials. END
