A fact finding and rescue team that was sent by the Rwenzururu King, His Majesty Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma, has met and aided Hilbert Mumbere, a thirteen-year-old survivor of the Kiteezi deadly disaster in Kampala.
The Kingdom Deputy Minister for Education and sports Hon. Abjeedi Kitalemire who was part of the delegation led Hon. Best Juliet Kambale Bakoko, the Minister for gender, People Living with Disabilities and Rehabilitation, said the move was initiated by the King to have the survivor, a school dropout and former house helper to the deceased family, reunited with his family in Kasese. Meanwhile a baby girl was retrieved from the foul landfill in Kiteeze yesterday, raising the confirmed death toll in the garbage collapse to 35; 18 males and 17 females, according to Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Mr. Patrick Onyango who said 28 persons are recorded as still missing.
In a related development, Police yesterday hand over Monica Nakitende, 12, to her mother after she had claimed that all her parents perished in Kiteezi landfill tragic incident. END
