Breast Milk is food and medicinal against ill health among babies, the country Director UNICEF, Dr. Munir Safieldin has revealed.
He said breastfeeding mothers need to feed on balanced diet that helps children to grow health and prevent them from stunting.
Dr.Munir was addressing Obusinga Bwa-Rwenzururu Privy council and cabinet during a half day nutrition meeting held at Rwenzori International hotel in Kasese town.
Dr.Munir revealed that Forty percent of children in Rwenzori region are stunted compared to twenty five percent countrywide.
Dr. Munir, who said Uganda has the greenest land in the world, attributed stuntedness to poor mindset change among farmers who refuse to grow vegetables. Dr. Munir speaking….
The Obusinga Bwa-Rwenzururu presented a cabinet declaration against stunting in Rwenzururu Kingdom in collaboration with UNICEF.
The statement read by the acting premier, Hon. Sele Masereka committed the kingdom in partnership with stakeholders to fight stunting through sensitizing the local community about malnutrition.
