The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu yesterday(30th.June.2021) celebrated their 59th independence anniversary with a call on the Kingdom subjects to work against acts of inferiority that could frustrate development.
Speaking to Kasese guide radio, the Rwenzururu Kingdom Premier, Rt. Hon. Joseph Kule Muranga called for hard work, discipline and a life that will not contradict with government standing laws so as to live peacefully with State and the local community.
Rt. Hon. Muranga also asked the Kingdom subjects to work against the spread of COVID-19 by putting to use implementation the Standard Operation Procedures against the virus. Rt. Hon. Muranga one ……
Mr. Muranga, a retired secondary school head teacher said they saw it irrelevant to gather the Kingdom subjects for celebrations at a time the King who is the main celebrant is in custody, and the Kingdom like Uganda and the world are hit by COVID-19.

In 1962, the Bakonzo and Bamba launched a low-intensity guerrilla war their request for independence was denied in the then Tooro Kingdom Parliament, forcing the movement to declare her independent Kingdom of Rwenzururu on 30 June 1962, three months before national independence, with Isaya Mukirania as the king.
