Mr. Vincent Ngaazi Bagonza, the subcounty Chief for Nyakatonzi in Kasese district has up tomorrow to produce a list of the volunteer community guards whose allowances he claims to have paid fully.

A meeting of the local procurement committee at the subcounty headquarters last week almost turned into a boxing ring after the seemingly irritated local leaders and guards selected to scare away the destructive elephants exchanged hotly with Mr. Ngaazi for what they called lacking accountability of UWA funds, part of which was to clear their allowances.

Mr. Stephen Mpeera, the area local council three Chairperson said told our reporter in Nyakatonzi yesterday that Mr. Ngaazi had been summoned by the subcounty executive committee with the lists of the fund beneficiaries who will however be verified.

Mr. Mpeera said the subcounty chief Mr. Ngaazi Bagonza would be held accountable for any messes in the expenditure of about four million shillings said to have been given by Uganda Wildlife Authority as part of the 25% gate collection revenue sharing. Mr. Mbeera speaking……

In last week`s meeting, the teary Ms Peace Birungi, the guard chairperson in Kamuruli parish winders why the learned technocrats could fail to clear the allowances of the poor guards risking their lives at night. Ms Birungi speaking….

The same meeting developed to near drama after Hon. Bethy Karoko, the Kasese district female councilor representing Kinyamaseke town council and Nyakatonzi subcounty and other local leaders disagreed with the subcounty chief, Mr. Ngaazi who did not want our reporter to cover the proceedings of the meeting.

    Hon. Karoko speaking1……..

Earlier, Mr. Ngaazi had told the meeting that he was ready to account for every coin of the said monies and provide a list for all the paid fund beneficiaries. END.
