Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi was yesterday(20th.Nov.2020) afternoon granted bail.

while presiding over Iganga Magistrates Court this afternoon, the Chief Magistrate Jessica Chemeri granted Kyagulanyi a non-cash bail of One Million Shillings while his two sureties, Paul Mwiru, the Jinja East MP and John Baptist Nambeshe, the Manjiya County MP, Five Million Shillings each.

Kyagulanyi was arrested while holding a political rally in Luuka district on Wednesday and later detained at Nalufenya Police Station in Jinja.

He was charged with doing an act likely to spread infectious diseases, under section 171 of the Penal Code Act.

John Wasajja, the State Prosecutor, had earlier asked the court to deny Kyagulanyi bail because he would commit the same offense again.

However, Kyagulanyi’s lawyer, Medard Ssegona argued that the case is bailable.

Ssegona further says that, as Kyagulanyi’s legal team, they will continue to advise their client to remain a law-abiding citizen. ENDS
