The elections for the NRM Youth League in Kasese Municipality were marred by disagreements between supporters of Brian Mumbere and Kenneth Isingoma.
The event, held at Rwenzori Square grounds in Kasese town, turned chaotic after a failed attempt to agree on a joint candidate for the position of Youth Chairperson.
Supporters of both camps clashed after efforts to front Kenneth as the sole candidate fell through.
It is alleged that Brian and Kenneth had previously agreed that Brian would step down in favor of Kenneth. However, to the surprise of many, Brian turned up on the morning of the election to contest, leading to confusion and tension.
Following the scuffle, Brian boycotted the election, which proceeded with Kenneth receiving 13 votes and being declared the winner.
