Mr. John Monday Wakighoma Omwanzi, a contestant in the NRM parliamentary race for Busongora County North in Kasese district, has withdrawn his recently announced independence candidature come 2026 general elections.
In the NRM parliamentary race for the area, Mr. Wakighoma, the local council three chairman for Kitswamba town council in Kasese, contested alongside; Mr. Mike Mbakania, Eng. Robert Masereka Marule and Mr. Edmon Masereka, some of whom have either petitioned or announced their independence candidature after losing to Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa, their incumbent Member of Parliament.
Addressing the media at Legacy Chill Out in Kasese Municipality this afternoon, Mr. Wakighoma said despite the visible irregularities in the recent concluded NRM parliamentary primaries, he had adhered to party principles and rules by supporting flag bearers, including President Museveni. He also asked Mr. Yoweri Museveni, the national NRM party chairman, to reign over party primary election irregularities and Members of Parliament who do not deliver but save huge monies to buy off and confuse voters. Mr. Wakighoma speaking2…….
He ended up congratulating his party flag bearers he asked to celebrate consciously withouthurting their former political opponents but voters they need for the 2026 general elections. END
