Kenya’s President-Elect William Somoei Ruto has commended Kenyan voters for raising the bar to have an election which is fully based on issues, above the ethnic undertones and configurations.
Mr. Ruto was announced the winner of the Presidential polls held on August 9, with more than seven million votes representing 50.49 per cent of the vote, ahead of his main challenger Raila Odinga who polled close to seven million representing 48.85 per cent of the vote.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Ruto said he will run a transparent, open and democratic government, and work with the Opposition who will provide oversight to his administration, adding that there was no room for vengeance.
Mr. Ruto said this was a win for Kenyans who rejected tribal politics, and that whichever way each of the Kenyans voted, “this will be their government.”
He also hailed his rival Raila Odinga for putting up a spirited fight and dwelling on issues that affect Kenyans.
The president-elect also hailed outgoing president Uhuru Kenya, for who he has worked as Deputy President, for “steering the country well” and promised to continue carrying forward the development of the country that they had started. Mr. Ruto sdpeaking……..
