No plans for an independent state by Rwenzururu Kingdom as promoted by those described as enemies of the cultural institution, His Majesty Charles Mumbere Iremangoma, the Rwenzururu King has affirmed.
Addressing former detainees, most of them victims of the 2016 Kingdom attack by security at Kasese Better Living Centre based in Kasese Municipality yesterday, King Mumbere said whereas the idea for an independent State had been in the initial plans of the Rwenzururu revolution struggle, the plan was abandoned decades ago when it turned risky and bloody to the fighters.
The King who said the same Yira State establishment plan was taken over by events and substituted by the use of the pen to iron out the kingdom concerns, emphasized that the promoters of the abandoned plan currently, were enemies of the Kingdom and therefore must be identified and handedover to the law enforcement officers for disciplinary action. Ms Helen Petronilla Masika, the Deputy Executive Director for Uganda Micro-Finance Center said she was convincing government for a possibility of financial support inform of a grant to all former detainees before a loan of any form can be extended to them to improve their living conditions.

The group Chairperson, Mr. Edwin Mumbere asked Rwenzururu King to negotiate with governments of Uganda and DRC to have a former detainee still staying at his family, repatriated to his home in the neighboring DRC the victim’s family is impatiently waiting for him. During the first ever historical interface of the King and the former detainees, His Majesty Charles Mumbere was shown two children who were born in prison. END
