    No more importation of Cassava flour in three years in Kasese-Dr. Kiyonga

    No more importation of cassava flour in Kasese district in the next three years, the former Member of Parliament for Bukonzo County west, Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga has announced.

    Kiyonga who described cassava as the staple food for the majority of Kasese residents, said he has revamped a campaign of encouraging farmers to grow cassava across the district.

    He made the revelation while addressing over two hundred converts that crossed from opposition political parties especially FDC to NRM on Monday at Bwera teachers college in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council.

    Dr. Kiyonga, was opprtumistic that by next year cassava cuttings will be in the entire district based on all programs he has laid down with government.

    Mr. Sunday Peter Kakule, the local council three chairperson for Nyakiyumbu sub-county, asked government to provide improved variety seeds and cassava cuttings to the farmers. Mr. Kakule speaking….

    He called for collaborated efforts towards improving food security at household level. END.
