Mr. Philbert Baguma Bates, the Uganda National Association Teachers` Union General Secretary says no salary increment, no work by teachers in Uganda.
Speaking to Kasese guide radio last evening, Mr. Philbert said the meeting by the teachers` leaders all over had resolved that government streamlines their salary imbalances and effect increment before they execute duty.
He also announced that the same message was to be delivered to President Yoweri Museveni Tibuhaburwa Kaguta as he meets the UNATU leadership today. Mr. Philbert speaking………
Mr. Philbert says that whereas some parents were perceiving teachers as being inhuman at the expense of their suffering children, they should also appreciate their workload and sympathize them especially looking at the monthly low pay.
Some parents reason that the teachers` strike wasn’t timely now that the children had just come out of the two years lock down over COVID-19 threats.
Others think the industrial action by teachers was only affecting the children of the poor and not of the rich and educated. END.
