The National Drug Authority has impounded drugs worth 54 million Shillngs.
The drugs were impounded during an operation conducted in districts in Northern Uganda and at the Busia and Malaba border points.
180 boxes worth 45 million shillings were impounded from the Northern districts of Agago, Kitgum, Amuru, Alebtong, Kwania, Gulu and Lira City while 8 boxes of assorted medicines and another containing anti- cancer medicines valued at 9.7 million shillings were impounded from the border.
Tom Makumbi, a senior inspector of drugs explained that the drugs impounded from the border were being transported in buses.

The law provides for a punishment of 2 million shillings or 5 years in prison or both for operators not complying with the NDA requirements. END.
