    National Coffee Act, 2021 hailed by Ugandan farmers, stakeholders in coffee sector

    Uganda coffee Development authority-UCDA, a government national entity yesterday launched the national coffee act 2021 with an aim to boast the quality of coffee and increase in coffee prices at the world market.

    While addressing the stake holder during a sensitization meeting held at Rwenzori international Hotel in Kasese town, the Deputy RDC in charge of Bukonzo county Rtd. Lt Mate Magwara commended government for enacting the national coffee act 2012 that will help farmers improve the coffee quality.

    Rtd. Lt Magwara called on all coffee farmers, buyers, processors and other stake holders to always embark on improving the quality of coffee in order to benefit from the produce by picking ripe coffee locally known as “red red”.

    The Kasese district chairman Mr. Muhindi Erifaz Bukombi who described Rwenzori coffee as key aspect crop that helps a lot in human health asked that the people of Kasese to have a positive mindset change if production of coffee is to be improved and elevate people from poverty. Mr. Muhindi on coffee speaking….

    Mr. Muhindi added that the new coffee national act will see free registration of all coffee farmers with an aim to benefit from the donor funding from those who need Rwenzori coffee something that will however need farmers to maintain the quality of the crop.     UCDA has however repeated her earlier warning to impound all bad coffee that is not recommendable on Maeket. ENDS
