Ms Faridah Nambi has vowed to overturn the Kawempe North by-election results, insisting she cannot accept defeat.
The ruling NRM party candidate lost the March 13 election to NUP’s Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola, who secured 17,764 votes against her 8,593.
Speaking over a Kampala based TV show last evening, Ms Nambi claimed the election was marred by violence and irregularities that left her at a disadvantage.
Ms Nambi who alleged that the Electoral Commission failed to count over 1,874 votes and that the official tally did not reflect the true outcome, revealed that her votes now stand at 9,500 after the EC allegedly called her over the updated results.
NUP’s Deputy President for Buganda, Muwanga Kivumbi, dismissed her claims, accusing security forces of fueling the violence. END
