Clerics and political leaders in Greater Luwero have warned Muslims against engaging in violence during elections.
According to the Electoral Commission roadmap, the general elections are scheduled to take place from 12th January-9th February 2026, and nomination of candidates for the Presidential campaigns is set to take place between 2nd October and 3rd October 2025.
The nomination for Members of Parliament will take place between 3rd -12th September 2025.
Currently, the aspirants for party tickets have submitted an expression of interest form to political parties, and primaries will kick off in July.

Meanwhile, Former Presidential Candidate John Katumba has confirmed his intention of a second shot at the Presidency in the 2026 general elections.
Katumba made the announcement at Kibuli Mosque during Eid-al-Adha prayers yesterday, joining the Muslim community in observing one of Islam’s holiest days. END.
