By Editorial,
President Museveni has retreated to his Kisozi farm in Gomba District to make the final call on a long-awaited Cabinet reshuffle.
Museveni has been expected to reshuffle his Cabinet since April last year when he vowed political action against his ministers who had been implicated in diverting thousands of pieces of iron sheets meant for vulnerable persons in Karamoja sub-region.
The time has finally dawned, sources at State House say, with most of the ministers implicated allegedly facing the axe as Mr Museveni comes back from retreat.
In Financial Year 2021/2022, Parliament passed a Shillings 39 billion supplementary budget to OPM to among others support the disarmament process and support of livelihoods of vulnerable persons in Karamoja through provision of agricultural inputs like goats to improve peace and eliminate cattle rustling in the region.
An angry President Museveni in April last year wrote to Premier Nabbanja, directing that the ministers who received and took the iron sheets for personal use were “thieves” who should be prosecuted.
President Museveni is expected to finalize his Cabinet in coming days, with the 2026 re-election agenda at the top of his decisions. END.
